Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The minister can now set targets for groups of renewable fuels; previously targets were set for individual fuels.
The minister must be satisfied with specific conditions before making these regulations.
The minister can change how scheme penalty rates are amended.
The law now requires individual certificate targets for each scheme target.
Group 2 renewable fuel production targets for the 2028 compliance period are set at 1,500,000 gigajoules.
